What’s Top of Mind for Membership Leaders? Insights from Memcom’s Leadership Skills Forum

At Memcom’s recent Leadership Skills Forum, we ran a quick prize draw. To enter, we asked association leaders just two questions:
  • What are your top strategic priorities?
  • What areas of leadership learning are you focusing on?
Congratulations to our prize draw winners:
🥇 Lee Davies, Chief Executive, Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys
🥈 Annette Spencer, Chief Executive, Association of Corporate Treasurers
🥈 Rachael Harrison, Portfolio Manager, Association of Accounting Technicians.

Each received a voucher of their choice—thanks again to everyone who took part.
In total, 23 senior leaders responded. It’s a small sample, but a valuable one, offering a snapshot of what’s front of mind for people driving change in the membership sector.

Here are the top three themes that came through:

Strategic Priorities

  • Deepening member engagement and participation
  • Attracting new members
  •  Developing new revenue streams

Leadership Learning Priorities

  • Leading with data and evidence-based decision-making
  • Strengthening strategic planning and change-management capabilities
  • Enhancing member engagement and experience design

This isn’t a definitive picture of the whole sector but it’s a useful temperature check.

Do these priorities echo what you’re seeing in your world?
