Maps and Directories for membership organisations

Directories gives every member and supplier listing a public page that search engines and AI tools can read, so people outside your membership can find them. Maps, which comes as part of the directory product, shows your location data as a map on your own website. Both are in beta.

Founding partners use the directory product early and shape what we build next. Founding licences start at £250 + VAT a year.

Maps: your location data, shown as a map people want to use

Many membership bodies hold location data: where members practise, where chapters meet, where partners operate. On the website it usually appears as an A-Z list, which tells a visitor who is listed but not who is near them.

Maps takes the location data in your directory and shows it as an interactive map on your own site. It comes as part of the directory product, so every listing can appear on the map. Visitors search by region or country and see who is there. You can show members and, if you want to, partners on the same map.

Example

The International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) runs its Global Community Map on its own website.

Visitors search by region or country to find member organisations, and partners are listed on the same map.

Who it suits

Maps works best where place is part of why people use your directory: international bodies with members in many countries, bodies with regional branches, and networks of accredited centres or training providers.

How it works

The map draws on your location data, or on your directory listings if you use Directories. We set it up, and you embed it on a page of your site.

Status

Maps is in beta. It is live and in use now, and feedback from founding partners shapes what we add next.

Directories: make your directory visible to the people who aren't members yet

A member directory is usually built for people already inside the organisation. It sits behind a login or in a CRM module, and the pages that search engines and AI tools can see are thin or missing. When someone asks a search engine or an AI assistant for a supplier, a practitioner or an accredited body, your directory isn't in the answer. The value of the listings stays inside your own membership.

Directories gives every listing its own public page, with the details laid out so that search engines and AI tools can read them. Visitors can search, filter by sector or type, and browse the listings A to Z. Maps, which comes with the directory product, adds a location-based view of the same listings.

Who gains

Members

Are found by people outside the membership, such as a buyer looking for a practitioner or a firm looking for a certified body.

Suppliers and partners

Get a listing that people can find, which makes it worth more to them. That gives you a stronger case for supplier membership or sponsorship, which diversifies your revenue.

Your marketing funnel

Gains a public route in. Someone who finds a member through search lands on your site, sees what your organisation does, and has a clear way to join.

More visibility means more traffic at the top of the funnel, for the operating association and for the members and suppliers listed. Those listed get more value from their listing, and prospects can see that benefit before they join.

If an AI assistant cites a listing when someone asks for a supplier, the directory becomes a source of referral traffic. We can't yet say how much traffic a directory brings, because the product is in beta. We would rather measure it with founding partners than promise a number.

Example

The UK Associations Directory lists around 500 UK professional bodies, trade associations, sporting governing bodies and membership charities.

Visitors search, filter by sector and association type, and browse the listings.

Questions about Maps and Directories

How is Directories different from the directory in our CRM?

A CRM directory is built for logged-in members. Directories publishes each listing as a public page built so that search engines and AI tools can read it.

Do we need to change our membership system?

No. Directories works from the listing data you already hold, wherever it is kept today.

What data do you need?

The listing details you already hold, such as name, description, address, sector and website. Maps uses the location in each listing.

How do search engines and AI tools find the listings?

Each listing has its own public page, laid out in a form that search engines and AI tools can read. We can't control what a search engine or an AI assistant chooses to show, so we make the listings readable and measure what happens.

Can we use Maps on its own?

Yes. Maps is available on its own, and a Directories licence includes Maps.

What does beta mean for us?

Both products are live and in use. We are still adding features and you may meet rough edges, and founding partners' feedback decides what we build next.

What does it cost?

Founding partners pay a licence of £250 + VAT a year for Maps or £750 + VAT a year for Directories, which includes Maps, with unlimited maps and directories. After the first year, the fee stays at 50% of the listed licence fee for your level of usage, permanently. We haven't set usage tiers yet, because we want to see how the products are used in practice first.

Who owns the data?

You do. Your listing data stays yours.
